Experience
Experience in tutoring one on one in WFC122, STAT 108, BIS 101, EVE 100, BIS2ABC. I can also tutor for general introductory biology, and ecology. However my favorite subjects to tutor are genetics (BIS101) and evolution (EVE100). I have tutored college students for the past 2 years. I try and break things down to the essential concepts first and then build on that. I am very visually oriented, and use diagrams to convey ideas, and use examples that you can then follow step by step. I like teaching, and get satisfaction when people learn new things. Over the past 2 years I have worked with a diverse set of students, all with different learning styles and I try to adapt to their learning styles. Sometimes this means having conversations on the material covered (and just "talking about it") or it may mean that I make detailed diagrams that define many key points of a certain subject (such as the water transport system in a tree). I have also worked with students with learning disabilities and english language learners. I currently do population genetic research on endangered species, including the salt marsh harvest mouse, giant kangaroo rat, and north pacific Albatross. My future interests are in whole genome and transcriptome sequencing.

Hobbies
I am a dog person, and like to spend time with my two small dogs. I tend to be interested in many other subjects outside the realm of biology, including economics, and I like to stay up to date on current news. Additional hobbies include antiques, home decor, video games (not much time goes into this anymore), reading (non-fiction), watching documentaries, and photography
