Experience
I have been tutoring and teaching middle, high school, and college students in math for the past 10 years. I have a mathematics degree, and I am currently a high school math teacher. I love math, and my advanced knowledge and teacher training provides a better tutoring base then a tutor who has not studied similarly. I was a math tutor at the University math lab for one year, and then promoted to the lead math tutor for one year. I was a teaching assistant, and lectured and provided private tutoring for advanced math classes. I have excelled in all levels of high school math, and can tutor up to calculus 3. I also specialize in teaching proof writing techniques. I volunteered at Enterprise high school in Redding CA, and did my student teaching at Berkeley high school. I was a high school math teacher at Madison Park Academy in East Oakland for five years from 2014-2019. I have taught 8th grade Algebra readiness, Algebra 1 Recovery, Algebra 1, Geometry, Geometry Recovery, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus (Math Analysis). My experience as a teacher makes me an excellent tutor because I am up to date on any curricular shifts (Common Core), and I can understand what teachers want when they create assignments. As you can see, a majority of my life revolves around math and teaching the subject. I love math because it is a perfectly logical system in which everything "works." It is the best combination of complex and simple that creates an elegant art form to me. I teach all my students how to have a "growth mindset" in which the know that their brain literally grows when they make mistakes. I am an encouraging and patient math teacher. I know that sometimes math can be difficult wall to overcome, but I know how to get students to success. Because I am a credentialed math teacher, I am an expert tutor.
