I have been tutoring Math for the last 6 years, from Pre-Algebra to Calculus. I also interned in a 4th grade classroom for a year, specifically working with the students in Math, but also helping with reading, writing, and science. I put in 100 hours during that year. I began the internship because of a class I was taking at UC Davis. The class was in the Math And Science Teaching Department, and this was focused for the elementary school age. In the class, we learned techniques for teaching math and science concepts to elementary age children. During the last year, I also started tutoring in Physics, mostly college-level. I have been in the Civil Engineering major but am switching to Physics. I had the opportunity this last year to be a mad scientist with Mad Science summer camps and after school programs, and was able to teach kids fun things to do with science. I really want to teach Physics and Math at the middle school or high school level. I loved the passion that my math and science teachers had for their respective subjects, and their ability to use that passion to encourage students in their classes. I hope to be able to share my enthusiasm for math and science with students like they did.
