EducationUC Davis - BA, Economics, Psychology
ExperienceI began my undergraduate studies at Duke University in North Carolina, and I am presently a senior at UC Davis. I am nearing completion of my bachelor's degree in psychology and economics. Once I've received my degree, I will continue studying here for another six months to receive my minor in biology. I worked informally as a tutor in high school, and I am now working as a professional tutor full-time. The subjects I've tutored include writing, economics, advanced mathematics, chemistry, SAT/ACT prep, and psychology. Of all the subjects I have tutored, I have most enjoyed assisting students with their writing because of its creative aspect. I enjoy economics, as well, because of the interesting combination of logic, reasoning, and finance. I find the essential element of working with students to be a broadening of the mind. I take pride in unraveling a set idea or preconceived notion and restructuring its pieces so that the concept is fully understood. I will tirelessly explore different ways of explaining a concept to a student until they fully understand it. Most of all, I believe teaching and learning should be fun for the teacher and the learner, and an adaptable approach makes the process more pleasant for everyone.
HobbiesOutside of my studies, I spend most of my time swimming or doing yoga, playing Ultimate Frisbee (as all college students should), playing the trombone, painting, and...wait for it...hatching and raising emus.
