Experience
After I graduated with my bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii at Hilo, I began to work as a full-time tutor. I have a deep passion for educating students in a one-on-one setting. I worked at a commercial tutoring center to tutor students in mathematics, writing skills, and reading comprehension until I became the Director of Education for the center. Although that branch of the company closed down, many of my students' families came to me personally and asked me to continue to work with their children, which was a great honor for me. I work with students as an independent tutor, helping students who struggle with mathematics, English grammar and mechanics, American and European history, government, geography, writing, and editing skills. I also offer homework support and assistance preparing for standardized and college entrance tests. I can help students working to get into college improve their SAT scores. I am able to quickly discover the topics that interest my students so that I can link a difficult subject to something they enjoy. I focus on the positive, and tutor in a supportive, productive, and enjoyable way. In my spare time, I enjoy films, music, and a good book.
